January PC MVPs: Celebrating Our Community Connectors

We are excited to recognize our January PC MVPs, whose work strengthens the connection between our schools, families, and the wider community. This month’s Community Connector theme highlights staff who build meaningful relationships and create opportunities that extend learning beyond our school walls.

Community Connectors: PC MVPs-January 2026

Certified MVP: Angela Smith
Angela finds creative and engaging ways to connect students with the community. Through her work with the PC Café, she teaches students lifelong skills while providing a meaningful service that benefits everyone involved. She has even transformed her summer school class into a community service project recognized at the state level. It's an incredible exampleof authentic learning with real-world impact.

Non-Certified MVP: Debbie Moss
Debbie goes above and beyond to support students, families, and the community through countless roles and initiatives. From her work at the Learning Center and Parents as Teachers to family events and Project Santa, her compassion and generosity shine in everything she does. Putnam County is truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring community connector.

Community Connector: Honorable Mentions

  • Lindsey Hague: Lindsey works to connect students and families with community support, coordinating donations and partnering with local organizations to meet student needs. From organizing the school market to noticing and addressing individual needs, her care and advocacy make a meaningful difference every day.
  • Stephanie Gillum: As school nurse, Stephanie is a vital link between the school, families, and community resources. Through strong relationships with parents, the Health Department, Lions Club, and local churches, she builds trust and ensures students and families receive the support they need.
  • Adam Huse: Coach Huse has strengthened school pride and community connection through his leadership of the football program. By encouraging players to engage with the community and younger students, he has helped build lasting relationships that are visible on and off the field.
  • Britten Hicks: Britten connects students to the community through FBLA by organizing service projects, volunteering opportunities, and partnerships with local businesses. His commitment to relationship-building and community involvement helps students see the value of service and civic engagement.
  • Ashley Jones: Ashley's outreach efforts and consistent positive presence at school activities reflect her dedication to representing the district well and strengthening school-family connections.  When the elementary needs resources or representation from the community,  Ashley is on top of making it happen.
  • Melody Dickerson: Melody has expanded community impact through programs like Kids Feeding Kids and FCCLA service initiatives. By connecting students with meaningful volunteer opportunities, including food banks and community drives, she fosters service-minded leadership.
  • Haley Watt: Haley keeps students, staff, families, and the community informed and connected through creative communication and outreach. From showcasing student success to strengthening relationships through PCRI and recruitment efforts, her work builds pride and engagement across the district.
  • Jeremy Watt: Jeremy is a steady, familiar presence at district events and consistently builds strong connections with both students and their families. Through his leadership in the football program and guidance of player-led service initiatives, he helps strengthen relationships between the school and the broader community while modeling leadership and service for students.  
  • Calvin Heidenwith: As Athletic Director, Calvin represents and promotes all levels of student athletics. He works tirelessly to create opportunities for students to participate, compete, and succeed, always finding ways to make things happen. Beyond his role at school, Calvin’s deep involvement in community activities further strengthens the connection between PC and the community we serve.
