✅ Requirements to Become a Substitute Teacher in Missouri (2025):
You must meet one of the following:
Option 1: 36 college credit hours from an accredited institution
Option 2: High school diploma or GED + DESE-approved 20-hour substitute training
🧾 Certification Steps:
1️⃣ Complete a fingerprint and background check through MACHS
2️⃣ Create an account and apply online for your Substitute Certificate through DESE’s Educator Certification Portal
3️⃣ Submit your transcripts or training certificate to DESE
📋 Other Requirements:

Be at least 18 years old
Have a valid Social Security Number or Educator ID
Be authorized to work in the U.S.
